Friends Book Club Discussion

September’s featured book is The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray. This book is the remarkable story of J.P. Morgan’s personal librarian, Belle da Costa Greene, a Black American woman who was forced to hide her true identity and pass as white.

The book club is open to all Friends members at and above the Contributing Friend level. Members will receive more information about where to meet via email.

Poet Laureate Reception

Enjoy a presentation from Scottsdale’s newest Poet Laureate Lois Roma-Deeley. The Friends is sponsoring this special reception, and Friends members will enjoy a private conversation with Lois before the main event.

Bingo Blast with Best-Selling Authors

This virtual event via Zoom will feature New York Times best-selling authors discussing their new and recent books. While they are speaking, our Friends and their friends will be playing bingo on their phones or other electronic devices.

All players will receive a unique, individual bingo card and instructions for how to play. The first several players to cover five squares in a row (accuracy counts) will receive a free copy of one of the featured authors’ books.

Gold Palette ArtWalk

Clue: Art + Literature Trivia Scavenger Hunt

Main Street, Scottsdale
Scottsdale Gallery Association’s Gold Palette ArtWalks are a complement to SGA’s weekly Thursday evening ArtWalks. Friends will have a table on Main and Market Streets featuring question placards about artists, with answers located inside galleries. There will also be a spin-the-wheel with prizes, membership packages, and a promotion to sign up for/renew library cards.

Special Exhibits

Scottsdale Leadership ExhibitMilestones & Memories: Scottsdale Leadership 35th Anniversary
Through December 31, 2021
This exhibit is located at the Scottsdale Heritage Connection, next to the Knowasis Teen Center at Civic Center Library. It profiles the history and contributions of Scottsdale Leadership.
